The formation of visible blood vessels or blood spots (hemangiomas) on the face or body can be blamed on aging, Rosacea, heavy sun exposure and genetic predisposition. Vascular birthmarks can also be present at birth. These conditions are seldom of any medical significance, however their presence is usually undesired. Luckily eliminating them is fairly straight forward using one of two methods.
Radiofrequency utilizes radiowaves conducted through an ultrafine electrode to seal the vessel by “touching” it several places along its length. The mild sting sensation is very well tolerated.
Laser or Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment employs a light of a specific wavelength which targets the blood in the vessels. Pulses of this light are placed along the vessel sealing it shut. The sensation is similar to the snap of a rubber band on the skin.
With radiofrequency, laser, or IPL more than one treatment may be required.
